FC 27 Hidden Attributes, PlayStyles, Roles and Secret Tactic Settings

Share

Two FC 27 players with identical card ratings can feel completely different in a match. The reason is everything that sits underneath the six big numbers on the card: the AcceleRATE type that decides how a player reaches top speed, his height and body type, his weak foot and skill move stars, his work rates, his PlayStyles and the role you give him in your tactic. None of these are truly secret, but most players never look past the face stats, and that is where matches are won.

This guide explains each of those hidden layers in plain English, then covers the lesser-known custom tactic settings that change how your team behaves, and finishes with the honest truth about 'secret codes'. Facts about how systems work are taken from EA's own PlayStyles article, EA Help and independent databases, all listed in the sources at the bottom. The advice on how to use them is an FC Tactics recommendation, not official EA guidance.

One thing to be clear on before we start: FC 27 has no cheat codes, unlock codes or secret button combinations that boost players. Anyone selling or posting those is guessing or scamming. The only 'codes' in FC 27 are shareable tactic codes, and we only list ones copied exactly from a named source with the date we checked them.

AcceleRATE: the most important stat you cannot see on the card

AcceleRATE is the movement system that decides how a player accelerates. First introduced in FIFA 23, it gives every outfield player one of three types: Explosive, Controlled or Lengthy. FIFAUTeam's FC 27 breakdown explains that Explosive players accelerate quickly over short distances, Lengthy players take longer to reach top speed but hold it better over long runs, and Controlled players sit in between.

The type is not chosen by EA by hand. According to the same source, it is worked out automatically from a player's height, Acceleration, Agility and Strength before kick-off. Sprint Speed does not decide the category, although it still decides how fast he runs once moving. FIFAUTeam also notes the Lengthy requirements changed from FC 26 to FC 27, so a player who was Lengthy last year may not be now.

The hidden trick for Ultimate Team players is that Chemistry Styles change attributes, so they can change the AcceleRATE type. Adding Acceleration and Agility through a style can push a tall, strong striker from Lengthy to Controlled, or a short winger into Explosive. Changes during the match, such as stamina loss, do not change the type.

  • Explosive: best for wingers and attackers who beat players over five to ten yards, and for quick turns in tight space.
  • Lengthy: best for strikers and full-backs who make long runs in behind or recover over distance. Recharge.com's summary of EA's post-beta notes reports Lengthy was adjusted after it dominated the closed beta.
  • Controlled: the balanced middle ground, good for central midfielders and centre-backs who need both.

Height, body type and why tall players feel different

Height is listed on the player's bio screen rather than the card, and it matters more than many players realise. It feeds directly into the AcceleRATE calculation, it changes how long a player's stride is, and it affects reach in the air and when stretching for tackles or blocks.

In practice, tall players win more headers and cover more ground with a stride, but turn more slowly. Short players feel sharper on the ball and in tight turns, but lose more aerial duels. When two centre-backs have similar Defending ratings, the taller one is usually the safer choice against crosses, while the shorter, more agile one copes better against quick dribblers. This is an FC Tactics observation from playing, not a published EA formula.

Weak foot, skill moves and work rates

These three are visible if you open the player's details, but they rarely get the attention they deserve.

Weak foot is rated from one to five stars and controls how accurate a player is when shooting or passing with his weaker foot. A five-star weak-foot striker can finish from either side without hesitation; a two-star player will often miss badly from the wrong angle. If you rely on cutting inside, weak foot matters as much as Finishing.

Skill moves are also rated from one to five stars and decide which moves a player can perform at all. Our skill moves guide lists every move with its star requirement, so check it before you try a move a player cannot do.

Work rates describe how much effort a player puts into attacking and defending off the ball, rated low, medium or high for each. A winger with high attacking and low defensive work rate will stay upfield, which helps counter-attacks but leaves your full-back exposed. In FC 27, roles and focuses in your tactic have a large say in off-the-ball movement too, so think of work rate as the player's natural tendency and the role as your instruction.

PlayStyles and PlayStyles+: the hidden abilities

PlayStyles are the badges shown on a player's card, but what they actually do is not obvious from the icon. EA describes a PlayStyle as a trait that grants or improves a specific ability beyond a player's ratings. A silver badge is the regular PlayStyle; a gold badge is PlayStyle+, representing world-class expertise and an even bigger boost to the same ability.

EA's official article lists 36 PlayStyle and PlayStyle+ abilities across finishing, passing, ball control, defending, physical and goalkeeping groups. It also says certain PlayStyles were refined in FC 27 to rebalance their relationship with player attributes, and that they may change further with feedback. That means a PlayStyle is not a free win: it works best on a player whose attributes already suit it.

The practical rule we use is simple: pick players whose PlayStyles match the job you are giving them. A striker with finishing PlayStyles is wasted in a deep role, and a midfielder with defensive PlayStyles is wasted in a free attacking role. Read the description of each PlayStyle on EA's page before paying a premium for a card because of a badge.

Player roles and focuses: hidden behaviour in your tactic

Roles are the biggest hidden lever in FC 27 tactics. FIFAUTeam explains that roles decide how players position themselves, move and make decisions in and out of possession, especially when you are not controlling them. Each role can have one or more focuses that make the player more defensive, more attacking or more mobile.

FIFAUTeam counts 37 roles in FC 27, and also notes that attacking movement is less rigid this year: a new spatial awareness system lets players spot space and make more contextual runs instead of always sticking to their assigned role. FCRadar.gg keeps a useful list of every role with a plain description, for example the Box Crasher defensive midfielder who joins attacks with late runs, or the Centre-Half who drops between the centre-backs when you have the ball.

Some cards also have a role with a plus or double plus, which shows the player is especially well suited to that role. Putting a player in a role he has a plus for is one of the quietest upgrades available.

  • To change roles in Ultimate Team: Club, Squad, press L3 for Squad Actions, Tactics, Edit Tactic, then press R1/RB to open Player Roles, as described by FIFAUTeam.
  • Give at least one midfielder a defensive role so you are not caught on the counter.
  • Avoid giving both full-backs attacking roles unless your holding midfielders can cover the wide areas.
  • Use a role the player has a plus for whenever it fits your shape.

Hidden tactic settings most players never change

These are FC Tactics recommendations drawn from building and testing tactics. They are not hidden in the sense of being locked; they are simply settings many players leave on default.

  • Line height: a few steps lower gives your centre-backs more time against pace; a few steps higher compresses midfield. Change this before anything else if you keep conceding balls in behind.
  • Build-up style: short passing keeps more players close to the ball, while a more direct style sends runners early. Match it to your midfield, not to what is popular.
  • Width in and out of possession: narrowing your defensive shape protects the middle but invites crosses; check how your full-backs and wingers are set before blaming your defenders.
  • Role focus: switching a single focus, such as making one central midfielder more defensive, often fixes balance faster than swapping formations.
  • Second tactic: save a protect-the-lead version of the same formation with a lower line and more defensive roles, so you can switch quickly mid-match.
  • Captain and set-piece takers: assign them manually rather than leaving it to the game, and pick takers with strong curve and the right PlayStyles.

Secret codes: what actually exists in FC 27

There are no FC 27 cheat codes. EA does not include button combinations that unlock players, coins or stat boosts, and any site or video promising them should not be trusted. Never enter your EA account details on a site promising free coins or packs.

What does exist are tactic codes. FC 27 lets you share a custom tactic as a short code that another player can import. Our tactic codes page lists codes copied exactly from named sources such as FUT.GG and Mark11 Coaching, each linked to the page it came from with the date we checked it. We have not tested every code in the game ourselves, so treat them as starting points and adjust roles to your squad.

If you find a tactic code elsewhere, check that it comes from a named creator or site you trust, and that the formation in the code matches the one you expect after you import it.

Putting it together: a quick player check before you buy or start him

Before you spend coins or move a player into your starting eleven, run through this short checklist. It takes a minute and catches most hidden problems.

  • Check the AcceleRATE type, and whether a Chemistry Style would change it.
  • Check height, especially for centre-backs and target strikers.
  • Check weak foot for any player who shoots or crosses from both sides.
  • Check skill move stars against the moves you actually use.
  • Read each PlayStyle and PlayStyle+ and ask whether it fits his role.
  • Check which roles he has a plus for, and set that role in your tactic.

Frequently asked questions

Are there secret cheat codes in FC 27?

No. FC 27 has no cheat codes for players, coins or stats. The only codes are shareable tactic codes, which change your tactic, not your players.

What decides a player's AcceleRATE in FC 27?

Independent guides report it is calculated from height, Acceleration, Agility and Strength before kick-off. Sprint Speed is not part of the calculation.

Can Chemistry Styles change AcceleRATE?

Yes. Because Chemistry Styles change attributes, they can move a player into a different AcceleRATE type in Ultimate Team.

What is the difference between a PlayStyle and PlayStyle+?

EA says a silver PlayStyle gives a specific improvement, and a gold PlayStyle+ represents world-class expertise with a bigger boost to the same ability.

How many player roles are in FC 27?

FIFAUTeam counts 37 roles across every position, each with one or more focuses.

Where do I find FC 27 tactic codes?

Our tactic codes page lists codes copied from named sources with the date checked. We have not tested every code in-game.
