FC 27 Skill Moves Discussion

Share

This board is for talking about skill moves in EA SPORTS FC 27: which tricks actually work in matches, how to pull them off on PS5 and Xbox, combos worth practising and when a simple pass is the better choice. Our skill move guides explain the inputs; this board is where players share what happens when they try them against real opponents.

Every post is checked by a moderator before it appears. You can read approved threads without an account, and posting needs a free sign-up.

FC Tactics is an independent fan site, and the inputs on our guides are community-sourced rather than confirmed by EA. If you find an input that differs on your console, post it here so we can check and update the guide.

What to post on the skill moves board

The most useful skill threads are about using a move, not just naming it. Explain the situation: where on the pitch you were, how the defender was standing and what happened next. That turns a highlight into a lesson other players can learn from.

  • Which skills you find effective right now, and in which situations.
  • Input problems: a move that will not come out on your controller.
  • Combos: two or three moves you chain together and why.
  • Practice routines that helped you learn a move.
  • Questions about which players can perform which skills.

Getting the input right on PS5 and Xbox

Most failed skill moves come down to timing rather than the wrong buttons. Many moves require you to hold a trigger while moving the right stick, and a slightly late or early flick can produce a different move or none at all. If a move is not working, slow down and practise the input in the Practice Arena or skill games before trying it in a match.

When you post an input problem, say which console and controller you use, which move you are attempting and what happens instead. It also helps to check your controller settings, since some options change how the right stick behaves. Our controller settings guide covers the options most relevant to skilling.

Remember that each player has a skill move rating, and higher-rated moves need players with more skill stars. If a move never comes out with one player but works with another, that is probably why.

When skill moves actually help

A skill is a tool for creating space, not a goal in itself. Players who use skills well tend to use a few simple moves at the right moment rather than many flashy ones. Common good moments include when a defender is running towards you and can be committed one way, when you need to shift the ball onto your stronger foot for a shot, and when you have a little space on the wing and want to beat a full-back one-on-one.

Skills are often less effective when you are surrounded, when the defender is already set and jockeying, or near your own goal where losing the ball is costly. Sharing examples of skills going wrong is just as useful as sharing highlights, because it helps people learn when not to try.

Many experienced players say simple moves such as ball rolls, fake shots and quick changes of direction are more reliable in competitive matches than complex tricks. Discuss what works for you and why.

Building combos

Combos chain two or more moves together to move a defender in one direction and then exploit the space. A fake shot followed by a quick cut, or a ball roll into a burst of pace, are examples players often mention. The key is that the first move must convince the defender, so the second move has space to work.

When you share a combo, write out each input in order and explain the situation it works in. Mention whether you need a particular skill move rating. If you have a short clip, describe it in text so everyone can follow, since we keep posts text-based for moderation.

A simple practice routine

Learning a move properly takes repetition. Members often recommend focusing on one move at a time: practise the input until it comes out every time, then practise it while running, then against a single defender, then in friendlies. Only after that should it appear in competitive matches.

Keep a short list of three or four moves you can perform reliably. That small set, used at the right time, will usually beat a long list you can only perform some of the time. Share your list and routine here; others may suggest a move that fits your style.

Board rules

Keep discussion friendly and focused on the game. Do not post links to cheats, macros or tools that automate inputs, as these break EA's terms. No selling accounts, coins or coaching services without permission. Every post is checked by a moderator before it appears.

If you think one of our guide inputs is wrong, post the move, your console and the input that worked for you. We review these reports and update guides where the evidence supports it.

Related skill guides

The FC 27 skill moves hub lists the moves we cover with PS5 and Xbox inputs, plus individual guides for moves such as the step over, rainbow flick, elastico, roulette and fake shot. The controller settings guide explains options that affect dribbling and skilling.

Read the guide for a move before asking about it here, then use the board to discuss timing, situations and combos that the guide cannot cover.

Skill moves and player choice

Skill moves are only as good as the player performing them. Beyond skill stars, attributes such as agility, balance, dribbling and ball control affect how smoothly a player moves with the ball. A five-star skiller with poor agility may feel slower than a four-star player who is quick and balanced. When you ask about a move, mention the player you are using, as it often explains the result.

PlayStyles also affect dribbling. Some PlayStyles are linked to technical dribbling, quick turns or flair, and players with them can feel noticeably different on the ball. Our hidden attributes guide explains PlayStyles and other less obvious factors. If you notice a particular player performing a move unusually well, share it so others can try it.

Height and body type can matter too. Some players feel more nimble in tight spaces than others with similar ratings, and discussions comparing how players feel are a good way to find someone who suits your dribbling style.

Defending against skill moves

Skill threads are not only for attackers. Learning how opponents use skills helps you defend against them. A common piece of advice is to avoid charging at a skilling player. Jockeying and keeping a little distance gives you time to react, while rushing in lets a simple move take you out of the game. Our manual defending guide covers jockeying and timing in detail.

If a particular move keeps beating you, start a thread describing the situation. Others can suggest how to position your defender, when to tackle and when to let a teammate help. Understanding what the attacker wants to do is often the fastest way to stop them.

Reporting changes after updates

Gameplay updates can change how effective certain moves feel. If a move suddenly works differently, post it here with the date and your console. Where possible, link the official EA patch notes if they mention the change. Our patch tracker lists the notes we have checked.

Please be clear about whether you are reporting a confirmed change or a feeling. Saying 'the elastico feels slower since the latest update' is useful; stating it as a fact without evidence can mislead people. Moderators may ask for more detail on posts that claim major changes.

Frequently asked questions

Do skill moves work the same in every mode?

The inputs are the same, but opponents defend differently in each mode, so a move that works in Squad Battles may need better timing in Rivals or Champions.

Which skill moves should a beginner learn first?

Start with simple, reliable moves such as the ball roll, fake shot and step over. Learn the input properly in practice, then try them against single defenders before using them in competitive matches.

How do I report a wrong input on a guide?

Start a thread with the move name, your console and the input that worked for you. We review reports and update the guide where the evidence supports it.

Are the skill inputs on FC Tactics official?

No. They are community-sourced and not confirmed by EA. Report differences here and we will check them.

Why will a skill move not come out?

Usually timing, or the player's skill move rating is too low for that move. Practise it slowly and check the player's skill stars.

Are the inputs the same as FC 26?

Classic moves have largely kept the same inputs across recent games, but EA can change moves, so check our guides and discuss any differences here.

Can I share skill clips?

Posts are text-based so moderators can review them. Describe the move and situation in words.
